About

I was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, and since my early high school days I remember myself being  fascinated by the cause-and-effect relationships governing the physical world.  Thus, I studied Physics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), Greece, where I received my BSc degree in 2003. Following my military service and driven by my role there as a meteorologist observer, in 2008 I obtained my MSc degree in Meteorology, Climatology & Atmospheric Environment (AUTh). In 2014 I completed my PhD (AUTh) under the supervision of Prof. Prodromos Zanis studying the background air pollution over Europe using regional climate and chemical-transport models.  Afterwards, I joined the Atmospheric Chemistry Department of the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry in Mainz, Germany, as a postdoctoral fellow. Since 2016 I am working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Meteorology and Climatology, participating in several national and international research projects, as well as carrying out my personal research. Moreover, I served as a contributing author of the IPCC (The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) Working Group I (WGI) Sixth Assessment Report (Chapter 6). Since August 2022, I am working as a postdoctoral fellow in the Atmospheric Chemistry Department of the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, Mainz, Germany, in collaboration with Dr. Andrea Pozzer.
